Pet Health Insurance

SLOWLY we are reaching people and getting the word out that pet health insurance is and has been available for some time.  As new technologies and equipment are developed as well as the numerous new pharmaceuticals available, it is more than clear the cost of caring for our patients isn’t going to ever get “cheaper”.  The Hebron Animal Hospital is dedicated to keeping costs down by buying smart, and by minimal margins on our fee schedule, but handling a much larger workload (volume) to compensate the staff and cover overhead costs.  We are committed to keeping veterinary medicine as affordable as possible.  With that said, we know it isn’t getting cheaper, so we thought we would take this time to promote pet health insurance and give you some ideas as to what it covers.

Typically the policies are “reimbursement” policies.  That is to say the client would pay for the services rendered at the time they are provided, and the paperwork would be filled out and signed by the veterinarian performing the services, then the insurance company would reimburse the client directly, typically 70% of the original invoice.  They even have wellness policies that will cover heartworm preventative, flea control medications, vaccinations, as well as spay/neuter surgeries.  You can be billed annually, quarterly, or even monthly.  Recently a client that had just gotten a policy for their new puppy told me it worked out to be about $16/month.  We think this is an invaluable resource as on average pets’ medical and surgical needs commonly are greater than a client can afford, often resulting in the delay in delivery of these services or the failure to deliver altogether.  I would like to encourage you to invest a few moments of your time to inform yourself about this service by visiting www.petinsurance.com.
